A man leapt to his death from the 27th floor of a midtown hotel early Friday, closing down a stretch of Eighth Ave., police said.The man jumped out of a window of the Milford Plaza Hotel and landed in the middle of the avenue between W. 44th and 45th Sts. about 4.50 a.m. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where he was pronounced dead, cops said. A hotel employee, who would not give his name, said he saw the aftermath. "[Paramedics\] were working on him, but he expired," the employee said. The NYPD closed down a stretch of Eighth Ave. for more than two hours Friday morning. The window the man plunged from could be seen ajar 100 feet above street level. His name was not immediately released.
