A fashion blogger and model is in hospital after being hit by the propeller of an aeroplane. Lauren Scruggs, 23, had her left hand amputated and needed facial reconstruction after suffering horrific head injuries. It is understood she had just got out of the two-seater aircraft in McKinney, Texas, following a sight-seeing trip and was going to thank the pilot - a family acquaintance.
Miss Scruggs suffered severe injuries to her hand, apparently as she attempted to protect her face from the propeller blades, and medics later decided it could not be saved.

The injured budding writer, an editor for online fashion magazine lolomag.com, was taken by helicopter to hospital, where
she had several operations. Her family has said she was conscious and showing signs of improvement. An entry on a blog set up by Miss Scruggs' family on the Caring Bridge health website said she was "beginning the long road to recovery".
Steve Blackman, an aviation enthusiast, told Fox 4 News Miss Scruggs was lucky to be alive.
